Craig
D. Conlee is a 4th generation Texan and a 1975 graduate of Texas A&M.
However, Craig’s true education and expertise comes from his extensive
life experience.
As a young man, Craig worked in the family moving and storage business. Mayflower agents for over 50 years, the Conlee family moved everything - courthouses, libraries, and thousands of tons of family heirlooms. His later management experience in this business gives Craig a great understanding of people, their valued possessions, and of trucks and equipment. Craig feels this adds to his expertise for both estate sales and business sales. With a degree in Animal Science, Craig moved into the ranching business. Working for Granada Land & Cattle Company, and a family owned ranch, skills and lessons were learned the hard way. Craig understands the challenges of big corporate ranching and the stress of family run operations. Farm sales should be right up his alley. From ranching to restaurants, Craig moved out of the field and into the fire. A three-year stint in the family restaurant business and three years in a franchise restaurant business has given Craig a unique eye for value in new and used equipment, and in locations. Restaurant sales will bring back lots of memories. Leaving the demands of being a restaurateur, Craig worked as a Vice President of Commercial Lending for Republic Bank. This career shift afforded Craig the opportunity to learn the inner workings of business from a different perspective. “When loans go bad you really find out what assets are worth.” Craig says this experience in business management gave him the confidence to start his food business. In 1985, Craig started a specialty food company and is credited for creating the first spicy bloody mary mix (called RED EYE - Texas Style Bloody Mary Mix). After a very successful 17 year career in the food business Craig made a lifestyle change. Auctioneering had an appeal, since it was an opportunity to utilize all of his knowledge and experience. As a graduate of the Missouri Auction School and licensed in the State of Texas, Craig is ready to sell just about anything. Happily married, Craig and Carol manage their bed and breakfast, and wedding chapel business, 7F Lodge. When they are not finding antiques and treasures on road trips, they’re at 7F Lodge or preparing for the next auction. Craig D. Conlee, rancher, restaurateur, mover, banker, entrepreneur, sales manager, innkeeper, turned AUCTIONEER. He knows your business and will look out for your best interest. Call him at 325-347-6480. “The gavel that travels”
Is this fair? Carol Conlee, a certified medical and dental hypnotist, recently completed the course work for Auctioneers at the Lone Star Auction Academy in Dallas, Texas. Carol graduated from the 83 hour course with flying colors and has received her Associate Auctioneers license from the Texas Department of License and Registration. On July 13th , 2006 Conlee tried her hypnotic style in an auction called the Ten Year Itch held at Conlee-Garrett Auction House located at 601 S. Bryan Ave near Historic Downtown Bryan. Carol called the bids in her great new style on 40 separate lots during the auction. Carol and her husband Craig have teamed up with fellow auctioneer Phillip Garrett of Conlee-Garrett Mayflower Moving, who also just completed the Missouri Auction School, to form the Conlee Garrett Auction House. The theme of the auction house is FUN! Carol coined the phrase
“Auctiontainment” and her auctions will always be fun and usually include
dinner. Her next big auction is actually in Houston where she and Craig
will be selling artwork for a consignor by the name of Enron. Yes, the
famed Houston business is liquidating some great artwork, some by Texas
artists and the hypnotic auctioneer will be in the thick of it. Carol Conlee started 7F Lodge in 1987 and quickly became known for her great outdoor theater. Conlee says, “ It’s a natural progression to auctioneering, whether your selling your self as an actor in a part or selling goods in an auction, after all isn’t life really one big stage ” |
